Fakers!

Well it happens to most artists at some point in their career and it’s now happened to me. I’ve just spent the best part of 6 months working with a new ‘record label’ only for the joker who was ‘running’ it to realise his get rich quick scheme, wasn’t going to get him rich.

It’s a massive shame he didn’t see the potential he had, after ‘signing’ a selection of quality artists that could have helped establish his project in the dubstep scene. Instead he took the easy option and has thrown in the towel, realising to work in the music industry takes dedication, hard work and some financial backing to promote your artists. Thankfully for me I was able to get out before he tried to release and earn money from my music.

Like other challenges I’ve overcome in my life, the experience has made me more determined to continue doing what I’ve always done; write music for me and to choose the ‘right’ people to work with. Making music is the easy bit; it’s a love and something I’ve done since the age of 14 and while I’m physically and mentally able, making music is something that I will always do. Unfortunately it’s the latter part which proves to be difficult, especially when you put your trust and belief in people you assumed knew what they was doing.

If you have read this post and are looking for more dirt and drama, it’s not going to happen as I’m not going to start mentioning names and slagging people off on the internet, there is already far too much of that. Followers will know who I’m talking about and you can make whatever you want from this post.

In the meantime I’ve been busy sorting out the long overdue launch of my own label. The release that was supposed to be coming out on the said label will still be coming out. I’ve decided to make this the first release on my new Slugplates label, and I will be giving the EP away for free but more on that later...

Being the arty type, I tried to find a quote to some up this experience and found this one by a true legend!
